Dr. S.M Shahidul Islam is the Pioneer acupuncture doctor in Bangladesh who has been helping patients improve their health and well-being for many years. He has successfully treated thousands of patients who have suffered from various painful diseases and ailments. Dr. S.M Shahidul Islam is a true pioneer personality and an Acupuncture specialist who introduced us to this heterogeneous treatment system of Acupuncture. He acknowledges this acupuncture treatment with long experience. With his deft hands, a new horizon of acupuncture unfolded. He is an Acupuncture specialist as well and he is a superintendent of the Bangladesh police (SP). Through his years of practice, Dr. S.M Shahidul Islam has honed his skills as an acupuncture doctor and he has helped many patients achieve relief and healing.

Dr. S.M. Shahidul Islam was born in 1972 in a noble Muslim family in the village of Ratoil, Kashiani Thana, Gopalganj district. He is fourth in serial of his eight brother-sisters. From his early childhood, he was very intelligent in his studies and outdoor activities. He was a meritorious student in his academic pursuits from an early age. He got a talent pool scholarship for classes Five and Eight. He also stood 17th board stand position in his SSC exam and 18th at HSC. He got a chance to be admitted to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) but due to getting a scholarship from the Chinese government, he completed his MBBS at Tongji Medical University, China. He did his internship at MG Osmani Hospital, Sylhet. 2011 he completed his M.P.H (Master of Public Health) at North-South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh with the result of 1st class first as well and he received the Chancellor Award (President’s Gold Medal) with a CGPA of 4.00 out of a CGPA of 4.00 (A+).In 2012 he completed his L.L.B (Bachelor of Law) from Prime University, Dhaka.

To achieve knowledge about medical technology and modern treatment procedures aboard. He visited Singapore Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore General Hospital, National University College Hospital Singapore, Daradia Pain Hospital India, Indrapradesh Apollo Hospital, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Thumbay Hospital, PSG Hospitals, KPJ Damansara Malaysia and different hospitals of Thailand. Superintendent of Police Dr. S.M. Shahidul Islam, PPM has been selected as Speaker at the International Conference in Delhi. He will play the role of Speaker at the ‘International Conference on Spine Health & Spinal Disorders to be held on 16th February. Apart from this, at that conference, he will present a significant article on the issue of ‘Treatment Methods of Spinal Disorder for Relieving Pain. In his multidimensional career, he has completed different training at home and abroad with a reputation. He also paid his duty with courage and professionalism during his tenure of service at a UN peacekeeping mission.

After becoming a Police Cadre, he increased the quality of treatment at the Central Police Hospital (CPH) at Rajarbag and augmented his dynamism in voluntary activities. He has taken different initiatives. By coordinating with the CRP, Saver. He has taken multiple activities for the Police staff working at Central Police Hospital (CPH) to increase their efficiency related to physiotherapy. He played an outstanding role in forming the pathology department at CPH by the ICDDR,B pathology section. To launch a science-based modern treatment method for Pain Management at CPH he played a special role in approving the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the China Ethnic Medicine Association Special Skills Alliance and ICDDR,B, Mohakhali. Superintendent of Police Dr. S.M. Shahidul Islam, PPM in his tenure of service has been performing with efficiency and courage at the Police headquarters, Jamalpur Circle, Keraniganj Circle SB, and City SB. He earned many achievements in his entire life. Such as, in 2018, He got the PPM (President Medal) award for efficiency, wisdom, honesty, prudence, and his voluntary work in different fields. By securing the first position with the President’s gold medal, he achieved an MPH degree from North South University (NSU). Besides this, he also achieved MBA and LLB degrees. In June 2000, he got the Fellow of the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health (FRSH) from the UK. In November 2000, he got an award from the National Association for Reproductive & Child Health of India in 2002, he was awarded for Excellent Moral Character Certificate from China. He completed his MSc degree in Food Engineering & Technology and also completed his PhD. Degree in Pain Management. He is the pride of Bangladesh as well as the man who serves his country with high dignity and hard work. We all love and respect him from the core of our hearts.
